We, Sakshi and Damini have been working on a very dear project - an evening of two solo works. We invite you to share this experience with us. Following is the information on the evening and our two works.
*Please note: The sharing is at two different venues on the two evenings.
“Up-Side Down” by Damini Gairola
With this work, Damini aims to paint an autobiographical and autofictional portrait of the self or rather, of the many selves. The self as a living, evolving host of memories and the site for future possibilities.
The present moment calls for us to re-member, to stitch the past back into being and resist forgetting and erasure. But, memory is funny like that, it resists order. It is not linear but a patchwork of facts, fantasies, horrors, desires and pleasures.
The work begins at a point of rupture where memories- both welcome and unwelcome have surfaced. The body negotiates this terrain through dynamic shifts - a quick light responsiveness interrupted by a heavy grotesqueness and a demand to be witnessed.
The contrast reveals a body caught between timelines, searching for coherence. Is it re-membering or reaching towards something still forming?

“Seed-state” by Sakshi jain
The piece explores the body as both a home and a seed, seeking rituals of expression, grounding, and empowerment.
The body as a home is a space for allowing and arriving. It holds repetition, loops inspired by memory, reflections, echoes, and pauses within movement. It is a constant arrival along the path, rather than a reaching toward a distant destination.
The body as a seed welcomes transformation. The seed state of the body is a reminder of the innate, ever present potential of returning to the source. Through its openness, fragility, impressionability, and strength, it reveals many beginnings within any given moment.
It also foregrounds and honours the dependence of both seed and body on the ecosystem, without which this potential cannot surface or even exist.
